Biography

 

Anouk Kendall has 19 years of academic and work experience in the energy and the environment fields. She was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, spent several years living and working in the UK and currently resides in Montreal, Quebec. She is dedicated to the development of clean energy markets in Canada and internationally. Anouk is also the Vice-President of IRIS Environmental Systems Inc. (www.irisenvironmental.ca)

Anouk has particular interest in community energy planning. Areas of technical interest have focused on bioenergy systems, residential conservation technologies, and grid interconnection systems.

Anouk worked with a team on a 4.5 year Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Training Program in the Caspian Basin (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan). She was also a team member for a district energy feasibility project in Russia’s Far East where the wood production industry is adopting sustainable business strategies including the use of wood processing residues for heat and power generation.

Prior to this, Anouk spent six years in the United Kingdom gaining valuable experience in biomass combustion research and domestic energy efficiency policies. She was a postgraduate researcher in the field of biomass combustion and is the author and co-author of several research papers pertaining to atmospheric emissions from biomass combustion and sustainable business practices. She then worked with Local Government as a senior officer responsible for designing and implementing domestic energy conservation strategies. Following the United Kingdom’s Home Energy Conservation Act 1995, she played a pivotal role in shaping and expanding the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Anouk was also the founding President of NewERA (New Energy Resources Alliance), Canada’s first decentralised energy industry association. She holds a B.Sc. in Geography from the University of Calgary.
